1. Answer the following questions.
 निम्नलिखित प्रश्नों के उत्तर दीजिए –

(i) Why are resources distributed unequally over the earth?
(i) पृथ्वी पर संसाधन असमान रूप से क्यों वितरित हैं?
Answer
The distribution of natural resources depends upon number of physical factors like terrain, climate and altitude. The distribution of resources is unequal because these factors differ so much over the earth.
प्राकृतिक संसाधनों का वितरण भूभाग, जलवायु, ऊँचाई जैसे अनेक भौतिक कारकों पर निर्भर करता है। पृथ्वी पर इन कारकों में विभिन्नता होने के कारण संसाधनों का वितरण असमान है।

(ii) What is resource conservation?
(ii) संसाधन संरक्षण क्या है?
Answer
Using resources carefully and giving them time to get renewed is called resource conservation.
संसाधनों का सतर्कतापूर्वक उपयोग करना और उन्हें नवीकरण के लिए समय देना, संसाधन संरक्षण कहलाता है। 

(iii) Why are human resources important?
(iii) मानव संसाधन महत्वपूर्ण क्यों हैं?
Answer
People can make the best use of nature to create more resources when they have the knowledge, skill and the technology to do so. That is why human beings are a special resource. People are human resources.
लोग और अधिक संसाधन बनाने के लिए प्रकृति का सबसे अच्छा उपयोग तभी कर सकते हैं जब उनके पास ऐसा करने का ज्ञान, कौशल तथा प्रौद्योगिकी उपलब्ध हो। इसलिए मनुष्य एक विशिष्ट प्रकार का संसाधन है। अतः, लोग मानव संसाधन हैं।

(iv) What is sustainable development?
(iv) सतत्पोषणीय विकास क्या है?
Answer
Balancing the need to use resources and also conserve them for the future is called sustainable development.
संसाधनों का उपयोग करने की आवश्यकता और भविष्य के लिए उनके संरक्षण में संतुलन बनाए रखना, सतत्‌पोषणीय विकास कहलाता है।
